Company Description

The Newberry Fire Department is a combination department providing both career and volunteer services. Our headquarters is located at 1041 Wilson Rd. with an additional station located at 1507 Nance Street. Currently, the department's total staffing level is 21 career and 15 volunteer members. Eighteen of the paid personnel work shifts of 24 hours with 48 hours off-duty between shifts. This provides a minimum staffing of (4) four personnel 24 hours per day between the two stations. The fire chief, fire marshal, and administrative assistant make up our administrative team. It is our mission "to serve our community with the highest level of courage, compassion, and professionalism."

Fun Fact​

We celebrated our 150th anniversary in 2023. NFD was home to the fastest fire horse in the state, sixth fastest in the world, in the early 1900s.

Primary Careers and Earnings Potential

Firefighter with promotional opportunities through the rank of Captain, Fire Marshal, and Fire Chief. Current starting salary is approximately $37,000.
